research

Our research focuses on improving the performance, reliability and sustainability of networked systems. We aim to build networked systems that are capable of seamlessly handling the connectivity and data processing from numerous and heterogeneous devices, while maintaining a low environmental footprint. Situated at the intersection of wireless communications, cloud and edge services, and network infrastructure, our work employs tools from optimization, applied machine learning, and statistics to achieve these goals.

The current focus areas of our research are:

  • Sustainable networked systems: The goal is to establish energy-efficiency and carbon-efficiency as fundamental metrics in designing and managing networked systems

  • Optimization of networked systems: We aim to build algorithms for managing communication and computing resources in large-scale networked systems.

  • Performance of emerging networked applications: We aim to optimize the performance of emerging applications (such as AR) through intelligent service placement and other application-specific methods.
